Join a tour led by an expert castle guide. These tours are offered in German and English and last approximately 30 minutes.
If you prefer another language, you can join a tour accompanied by a guide and use a portable audio guide device, available in 17 languages including French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and Mandarin.
The tour covers 14 of the castle's finished rooms, including the magnificent two-story Throne Hall, the King's private apartments, and the impressive Singers' Hall.
Tours run continuously every few minutes. Your ticket has a specific tour number and time. Punctuality is mandatory; latecomers cannot join and will forfeit their tickets.
Your tour begins in the castle courtyard. An electronic display will show the number of the tour currently being admitted. Once your number is called, you will scan your ticket at the automated turnstile and enter.
You will be led through a series of lavishly decorated rooms, each telling a story from Germanic mythology or Wagnerian opera. The guide will share details about the King's life, his passions, and the incredible craftsmanship that went into creating this fantasy palace. The tour moves at a set pace and concludes after about 30 minutes, after which you can explore the castle café and shop.
